There are several Ph.D scholarships, fellowships, and grants offered by colleges and universities in Europe and also by the European Union
Alongside the European Government to support international students to undergo Undergraduate, Masters, or Ph.D. studies in Europe.
For this article, I will be focusing on fully funded Ph.D. scholarships for international students. So if you have been wanting to pursue a postdoctoral degree program in Europe, this article is just what you need.
1. German Fully-Funded Positions for International Students at MDC
Deadline: January 4th
Applications are now open for Fully-funded Ph.D. positions for spring recruitment. Positions are available to students all around the world. Ph.D. researchers are fully funded through an initial 3-year working contract with the MDC. In many cases, contracts are extended for an additional year.
2. Scuola Normale Superiore Ph.D. Scholarships
Deadline: February 20th
The Scuola Normale Superiore is offering fully-funded Ph.D. for both Italian citizens and international students to study in Italy.
The scholarship covers tuition, fees, and cost-of-living. All students will be assigned further funding for their research activity and travel.
3. DAAD Postgraduate Scholarships for Students from Developing Countries
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering DAAD Postgraduate Scholarships for Developing Countries. These scholarships are open to pursuing a postgraduate degree program at German institutions of Higher education.
The value of the scholarship is up to 850 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates, including health and accident cover, and travel allowance.
4. The University of Edinburgh Fully Funded Ph.D. Scholarships in UK, 2020
Deadline: May 31st
The University of Edinburgh fully funded Ph.D. scholarships in the UK is open for international students who wish to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Accounting, Finance, and Business and Climate Change. The scholarship covers full tuition fee.
5. Fully Funded Ph.D. Scholarships in Germany at the University of Hamburg
Deadline: January 31st
The University of Hamburg is proud to announce a structured Ph.D. program in Legal Studies and awards scholarships. The university accepts applications from students all around the world. Scholarships are granted for the full duration of the doctoral program.
The continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual review process based on satisfactory academic progress.
6. Imperial College London Fully Funded Scholarships in the UK
The Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London has up to 10 fully-funded scholarships available for outstanding Ph.D. applicants each year. The scholarship covers both tuition fees (worth £29,000) and an annual tax-free contribution to maintenance costs of £16,553.
7. University of Mannheim Fully Funded Scholarships in Germany
Deadline: March 31st
The Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) at the University of Mannheim is now accepting applications for up to 45 doctoral scholarships to study in Germany.
International applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. Up to 45 scholarships will be offered to the best applicants.
8. DAAD Full Scholarships at TU Dortmund University for International Students in Germany
Deadline: May 28th
The TU Dortmund University is inviting applications for the DAAD Graduation Scholarships for International Students in Germany from the DAAD project STIBET.
The purpose of DAAD Graduation Scholarships is to support international students who want to complete their studies of graduate and doctoral degree program. Successful candidates will receive a minimum of 250 Euros.
9. Scholarships at the Free University of Berlin for International Students in Germany
Deadline: April 10th
The Collaborative Research Centre 958 (SFB 958) “Scaffolding of Membranes – Molecular Mechanisms and Cellular Functions” with the integrated Research Training Group funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) is accepting applications for Doctoral Scholarships.
The scholarships will be awarded for one year. After this initial year, the funding for the doctorate will come from the supervising PI. Doctoral fellows will receive a stipend of €1,365/month plus an additional allowance of €103/month.
10. University of Stirling Commonwealth Shared Fully Funded Scholarships in UK
Deadline: March 14th
The University of Stirling is proud to offer the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for international students who are looking to study selected postgraduate courses. The scholarship covers: tuition fees, maintenance/ living cost stipend, return flights, thesis grant, study travel grant (if applicable), and one-off arrival allowance.
11. Tempus Public Foundation Fully Funded Scholarships for Foreign Students in Hungary
Deadline: January 30th
The Tempus Public Foundation is calling applications for foreigners to apply for Hungarian State Scholarships to conduct research.
Scholarships are paid by Tempus Public Foundation to the scholarship holders. Postdoctoral applicants receive a stipend of 80,000 HUF/month and an accommodation allowance of 80,000 HUF/month.
12. Fellowships in Norway at Christian Michelsen Institute (CMI) for International students
Deadline: December 1st
The Christian Michelsen Institute (CMI) is delighted to offer three Ph.D. candidates to conduct research in the framework of the following NORGLOBAL research projects, funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN). Fellowships are available for International students.
13. University of Southern Denmark Ph.D. Fellowships for International Students
Deadline: May 13th
The University of Southern Denmark is inviting applications for CFEI Ph.D. Fellowship for international students to study in Denmark. Applicants are required to have a master in engineering or equivalent at the time of employment.
Employment as a Ph.D. fellow is a 3-year salaried position. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the 3-year period.
14. Commonwealth Fully Funded Fellowships in the UK for Developing Countries
Deadline: February 15th
UK Department for International Development (DFID) offers Commonwealth Split-site (Ph.D.) Scholarships for Developing Commonwealth Countries.
Citizens of developing Commonwealth countries can apply for these fellowships. The fellowship covers tuition and examination fees, living allowance, clothing allowance, travel expenses, etc.
15. Fully Funded Postgraduate Scholarships in the UK at the University of Leeds
The University of Leeds is accepting applications for its Doctoral Scholarships. There are a number of fully funded places for this academic session available across all disciplines.
Successful applicants will receive payment to cover their University tuition fees up to three years, along with a maintenance grant matching the Research Council UK rate.
