Federal Government, ASUU Meets Today To Resolve Strike
The FG will be meeting with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) today to resolve the lingering industrial action embarked by the union
In a statement issued yesterday by the Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, Mr Charles Akpan, it said: “Ngige will be hosting a meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
The government’s negotiating team led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige had met with the union yesterday to deliberate on the possibility of accepting the University Transparency Account Systems (UTAS) payment platform developed by the University Lecturers.
It would be recalled that members of ASUU have been on strike for over six months demanding among others, that its members should be exempted from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), recently introduced by the federal government.
