It has recently come to the notice of the Division of Student Affairs that several graduates are unfortunately rejected at the NYSC Orientation Camp where they are posted for national service as a result of name disparity in their documents
Investigations into these cases reveal that there is usually a difference between the names in the students HND Statement of Result and their NYSC Call-Up letters.
It should be noted that the name in the Statement of Result originates from the School Admission letter and screening/registration process which Registry bases on the students O/L certificates while the NYSC call-up letter is based on JAMB Admission letter/JAMB Revalidation letter
These disparities are usually due to the following causes;
a. Where there are 3 names in one document and 2 names in the other or where there are 4 names in one document and 3 names in the other.
b. Where the surname in one document is different from the surname in the other document.
c. Where names are re-arranged in different documents such that one is unsure of which one is the First Name, Middle Name and Surname
d. Where there are spelling differences e.g Ogbonna as against Ogbonnaya
e. Where there are differences in Reg. No., Department/course, etc.
Consequently, the present HND II students are strongly advised to ensure that there is no such disparities in their names in all their documents. This emphasis has become necessary because of the small percentage of HND Il students that attended the NYSC/JAMB awareness meeting we organized earlier in the year for graduating students
This letter is intended to guide all HND II students accordingly and save them the embarrassment and inconveniences of being sent away from the NYSC orientation camp as is being witnessed today.
